In May 2021, computer lab managers and IT professionals will gather for the annual LabMan Conference to discuss, collaborate and learn about best practices and innovations for higher ed IT.

After months of video meetings and trying to connect with colleagues virtually, we’re excited to announce the LabMan conference is still on!

The 2021 Labman Conference will be held May 26-28 in Richmond Virginia.

About the Conference

LabMan is a national conference for computer lab managers and IT professionals working in higher education. It’s a gathering of technologists of all backgrounds including engineers, technicians, managers, directors, administrators, and anyone managing academic computing resources.

Managing IT on college and university campuses comes with unique challenges, and LabMan offers a way for colleagues to get together and discuss:

  • Managing computer labs
  • Technology use and data
  • Wireless support
  • BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
  • Improving the student experience
  • Classroom support
  • Innovation spaces
  • Computer lab monitoring
  • Print management
  • And more

Although LabMan meets annually, over the last two decades it’s become a community of professionals who collaborate beyond the 3-day conference to troubleshoot issues, find solutions and explore innovative ideas.

Safety Precautions

To keep everyone safe during the conference, the LabMan team will be taking the following safety precautions:

  • Personal protective equipment kits for each attendee (including cloth masks, sanitizer and wipes)
  • Enforcing social distancing measures in all venue areas
  • Providing additional time between sessions for hand washing
  • Encouraging safe, social interactions
  • Ensuring compliance with guidelines from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), VDH (Virginia Department of Health), and the conference host, Virginia Commonwealth University.

Friendly Gatherings

In an effort to build community and have some long-awaited fun away from the screen, LabStats will be sponsoring the LabMan social event.

Conference attendees will get to enjoy a night out at Tang and Biscuit where they can challenge friends new and old to a game of shuffleboard, giant Jenga, ping pong, cornhole and more. Tang-inspired cocktails, beer and pub snacks will guarantee a night of fun.
